On Wednesday, January 27th, Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) announced that he will introduce a resolution to expel Greene from Congress, a vote that would require a two-thirds majority, or 70 Republican votes, to pass. As Rep. Gomez wrote to colleagues, “Congresswoman Green’s misconduct has...endangered the lives of her colleagues and fellow members of Congress. She has broken her oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies and as such is unworthy of the high position of honor and trust reposed in the office.” 

While we support expulsion and other consequences for additional Members who have broken their oaths, including Members who helped plan or supported the insurrection on January 6th, this is an important step forward toward accountability and restoring the integrity of Congress.
